"Let's start off by saying I'm 23 years old haven't been to the dentist and 12 years needed quite a bit of work done.. when I came to this location a week ago I was very nervous and scared not knowing what's to come and afraid of the judgment of my teeth condition, but on my first visit was very surprised on how welcoming and nice front woman were Kelly and Jessica made me feel very welcomed. I was called to the back to meet Doctor Barrett and ms Gracie both amazing women getting right to work while making you feel right at home but also being like a mother and telling you what you need to do lol.. on my second visit I came in to get a root canal and three fillings I was there for 3 hours because it was very busy, it didn't feel like it though I was being talked to Non-Stop and they engage very well into their customers long story short they fixed my three front teeth cavities so now I can smile without feeling judged in a root canal that was needed I feel amazing and I love this location will never go to any other one...."- J.S. / Google / Nov 30, 2019

At MINT dentistry, we offer oral-conscious sedation for adults and children who have a fear of going to the dentist. Before you are prescribed a medication for oral-conscious sedation, our team will need to complete a thorough consultation to determine if you are a good candidate. We will ask about your medical history, current medications, and other factors to ensure you can safely take an anti-anxiety medication and decide which type will be best for your needs. Oral sedation may not be recommended if you have a heart or respiratory condition, you are pregnant, or you you are allergic to the medication.
What to Expect
We can prescribe one of many types of medications for oral-conscious sedation. The type recommended by MINT dentistry will depend on your level of anxiety, your physical health, what procedure is being performed, and the estimated length of your appointment. Your medication will be prescribed during your consultation, so you can have it filled before your procedure. Since you need to take it before arriving, you should arrange to have someone take you to your appointment. With light sedation, you will remain relaxed but awake. With moderate sedation, you will also stay conscious, but you may feel like you were asleep because of short-term memory loss. You may fall into a light sleep but you should wake up easily. We will make sure you feel comfortable and safe during your appointment.
Your recovery from sedation will depend on which medication you took. You will need to arrange for a responsible adult pick you up after your appointment and stay with you for at least 2 – 4 hours while the medication wears off. Your team will discuss possible side effects from the specific medication prescribed for you. Most commonly, patients experience temporary headaches, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting after oral-conscious sedation. The risk of nausea and vomiting can be reduced by having a light meal before taking the medication and eating a snack about one hour after your procedure. If you are concerned about symptoms after a few hours, please contact us for information.
